ASTA SUPPORT
Detailed answers about joining events, recording activity, daily goals, scores, results and your account. Choose a topic below, or contact help@astafitness.com.
No. You can join an existing Competition, Pool or Social game through Play or a valid invitation. Read its details, participation requirements and relevant entry conditions, then complete the join flow and check that your place is confirmed.
Creating an event is for organising your own. Use the joining guide to take part in an existing event, or the creation guide to set one up. The event rules explain what happens during and after participation.
Use Play to explore Competitions, Pools and Social games. Competitions rank recorded activity totals; Pools check daily targets; Social games organise recreational sport and record participant-entered scores. Read the event details before joining because the start rules, scoring and results differ between the formats.
ASTA also includes profiles, follows, posts, comments, messages and participation history. You can share photos and results, follow other people and return to the events you have joined or created.
Choose a Competition if you want your total steps or distance compared with other entrants over the same period. Choose a Pool if you want to commit to meeting every selected daily goal. Choose a Social game if you want to arrange a sport or activity with people and keep its score.
You do not need to treat them as one combined challenge. Joining a Social game, for example, does not also enter you into a Pool or Competition.
Yes, social features and participant-entered game scores do not require an Apple Health connection. Activity-based events need the relevant supported activity evidence so ASTA can assess your progress.
On iPhone, you decide which Health data to allow. The website cannot read Apple Health. An account or website visit by itself does not give ASTA access to your phone’s Health data.
The private beta is invitation-only for people aged 18 or older who live in South Africa. New accounts require a valid single-use invitation and your age and residency self-declarations; these are not independent identity, age or location verification. Provide accurate account details, keep your sign-in credentials secure and use only your own account and activity records. Do not impersonate another person or transfer an account to evade restrictions.
Apple Watch and Garmin scoring companions depend on a paired phone and their current availability. Do not assume that every watch model is supported or that a scoring companion can independently run every part of ASTA.
A Competition first fills the field required by that event. It then locks and, under the current start rule, is scheduled for the next midnight in Africa/Johannesburg, South African Standard Time. Joining alone does not start the event.
Check the actual event’s required entrants and displayed dates. Field sizes can differ during this beta. Activity recorded before the start does not contribute to the Competition.
A Competition ranks your cumulative eligible total across the entire event. It does not eliminate you for failing a daily streak target. A higher total across the event ranks ahead of a lower total, even if the lower-total entrant led on individual days.
Daily pass-or-fail targets belong to Pools. The distinction matters when you decide which format to join.
Solo results rank eligible totals. Squad results use the combined eligible totals of the squad. Disqualified entries are not awarded a prize.
The current implementation breaks equal totals by earlier entry time and splits a squad prize among its members, with any indivisible remainder assigned to the earliest-joined member. Equal totals do not currently share the prizes for tied positions.
These are the reviewed beta calculation rules. Reading these rules does not change a previously entered Competition or its result.
While a Competition is filling, an entrant may leave and receive the entry refund to their wallet. Once the required field fills and the Competition locks, ordinary withdrawal is closed. The scheduled start is the next midnight in South African Standard Time (SAST, UTC+2).
Check the event’s actual start and end. A reminder or failed notification does not alter the schedule. A beta entry refund returns test credits to the ASTA wallet; it is not a bank payment.
Result notices distinguish placement and a test-credit wallet award from an award under review. Neither is a cash prize or bank payment in this beta. Verification flags may hold an affected credit for review.
Raise a result query with the Competition reference, relevant activity times and sync evidence. A flag is not proof of cheating. These policies do not promise a fixed dispute response or settlement time.
New date-based Pools start at midnight on the selected date in the Pool’s chosen time zone, regardless of the number of participants. Joining closes at that moment. The creator joins and contributes when the Pool is created.
This is different from a Competition filling its required field. If you are viewing an older Pool with a different start setup, use its displayed event details.
Every required goal must pass every day. Once the daily upload allowance closes, missing a selected target ends your qualifying run and your contribution stays in the Pool. Completing more of another activity does not replace the missing goal.
For example, extra steps cannot make up for missing a sleep target. Extra activity on a later day does not repair an earlier failed day. There is no current buy-back or redemption step to re-enter after a failure.
Where more than one participant entered, the Pool can finish after a daily check leaves one qualifying participant, who receives the shared total. Otherwise, participants who finish all required days share it. If nobody finishes, each participant receives their entry amount back. A date-based Pool with only one entrant follows the full-duration rule described above and can return only that entrant’s own contribution.
The current wallet calculation uses whole cents as test-credit accounting units: equal shares are rounded down and remaining units are allocated in participant order. There is no company-funded rounding top-up in this calculation.
Daily results and allocated wallet amounts are noncash test credits during this beta. No bank settlement follows a beta award. These rules do not promise an additional waiting period before allocation. Unresolved relevant grace periods or disputes require review.
New Pools start at midnight on the creator’s selected date in the displayed time zone, regardless of entrant count. The creator chooses a positive whole number of days and does not set a participant capacity. Participants can join until that start, or leave before it for a full entry refund. Leaving does not postpone a date-based Pool. Older capacity-based Pools retain their original schedule: they start at the next local midnight after filling, and leaving before start can return them to waiting.
Once it starts, missing a required daily goal eliminates the participant and their contribution remains in the shared total, subject to correction, cancellation and applicable rights. An eliminated Pool moves out of that participant’s active feed but remains in Past events. A date-based Pool ends and refunds all entries if no active participants remain. If only one participant entered, it runs for the chosen duration while they meet the goals and returns only their own entry; there is no unfunded prize.
Sleep can be a selected Pool goal, including duration and optional bedtime or wake-time conditions. Main sleep is assigned to the day on which the interval ends, with recorded awake gaps excluded where represented. The precise targets come from the Pool you join.
Participants can see relevant progress, status and non-sleep daily totals. Detailed sleep intervals and another person’s detailed wallet-Pool reports are restricted. Sleep is not a Competition or activity-league metric.
The host starts, pauses, resumes and finishes the game. Before the start, all places must be filled and, except for Hiking, everyone needs to select one of the two teams with players on both sides. Teams are fixed once play starts.
Review the place, time, player count and teams before starting. The app does not automatically reserve a venue when a host adds it as a meeting point.
Joined participants can submit points and undo or remove score entries. Controls depend on the sport: basketball has one-, two- and three-point actions, while tennis and padel use points, games and sets. Hiking has a timer without a competitive score.
The scoreboard reflects participant input. It does not referee play, detect fouls or verify a point through Health data. If a result needs attention, provide the game reference and identify the score entry or action in question.
A game can finish through the host, its scheduled end or a supported winning condition. Finished games appear in participation and profile history. Players can share the result in ASTA and optionally add a photo.
Social games are free recreational events. Their scores do not become step or distance totals, and the beta does not offer cash prizes.
Nearby discovery uses the location of the venue or meeting point to help you find a game. It does not show the live location of other players. A meeting point can be a facility, café, park or address.
Public games can be discovered; private games use restricted access and invitations. Confirm any practical venue arrangements with the organiser before travelling.
Start with the original activity source. Check that the record is saved, that it has reached Apple Health where applicable, and that it is the correct activity type. Running, Cycling and Swimming need suitable saved workouts with distance and timing evidence; a manually entered record will not qualify.
Next, check ASTA’s connection and sync feedback. Records also need to fall inside the event’s activity window and arrive within its upload deadline. Duplicate or overlapping sources are handled so that the same activity is not simply added twice. If the total still looks wrong, send the event reference, day, source and sync details to support.
Current Competition and Pool rules allow seven minutes after the relevant event or day ends for eligible earlier activity to arrive. It is an allowance for uploading existing records, not additional time to exercise. Activity recorded after the end of the relevant window does not become eligible just because it arrives during those minutes.
Check the deadline shown in the event and sync before it. Background delivery depends on phone scheduling and connectivity, so leaving all syncing until the final moments can put records at risk of arriving late.
The current iPhone route is Strava → Apple Health → ASTA. ASTA does not directly connect a Strava account through that flow. The activity must reach Apple Health with the workout details needed for the relevant event.
Being visible in a source app is not the same as reaching Apple Health or successfully uploading to ASTA. Check each step if a workout is missing.
The native iPhone connection reads the permitted steps, relevant workout distance and sleep evidence needed for supported functions. It does not write Health records through that connection, and the reviewed native connection does not request heart-rate samples or workout routes.
For activity-based events, relevant totals and workout evidence can be uploaded to ASTA to validate progress and calculate results. This can include activity type, start and end times, distance and source information. Evidence used for an event is not necessarily held only on your phone.
Turning off sync stops future sharing through that connection. It does not automatically delete records already uploaded to ASTA, erase the original provider’s data or delete your account.
Account deletion is a separate request. If you are taking part in an activity-based event, understand that missing future evidence can affect whether your progress qualifies.
Direct messages require both people to follow one another. Check that you follow the other person and that they follow you. Blocking and other account restrictions can also affect contact.
If you still cannot message after confirming the connection, send support the screen, action and approximate time of the issue. Do not include passwords or verification codes.
This private South African beta uses free test credits only. They have no cash value and cannot be purchased, withdrawn, redeemed or exchanged for cash prizes. Cash deposits and withdrawals are unavailable.
Existing wallet records can display rand amounts, ZAR currency, entries, prizes or refunds. During test-balance mode these are accounting labels for noncash credits, not bank funds. This policy does not convert any genuine historical payment or obligation into test credits. Any future paid release is a separate decision requiring appropriate rules and authorisations.
Open Settings → Account and security → Delete my account. Verify your identity with your password or supported sign-in provider, supply an SMS code if required, and type DELETE before confirming permanent deletion.
The request gives you a private receipt, a target completion date and any unresolved obligations. A target date is not a promise that every account, provider record or backup will be erased by that date. You can check completion from Account privacy and deletion on the sign-in page, including for restricted accounts. Removing the app or signing out does not delete your account. Completed deletion cannot be undone.
The deletion request is recorded even when an existing obligation prevents immediate final deletion. ASTA removes your social content and owned photos while the request is processed. Positive test credits alone do not hold the account open. You do not have to spend them, join another event or provide bank details; remaining test credits are erased when deletion completes.
For an app issue, describe the screen or action, what happened, your phone and app version, and the approximate time. For a Competition or Pool, include the event reference, relevant day, activity source and sync status. For a Social game, identify the game and the score or action in question.
Use Help in the app’s Settings to submit a request and keep its reference, or email help@astafitness.com. Never send passwords or verification codes. You can also use the website contact form. Wait for its confirmation before leaving the page. If it cannot send your message, email help@astafitness.com directly.
